Review: Rans Enduro Recumbent Bike
"If you’re looking for a sweet, fast ride this recumbent bike is your ticket. The “Enduro” is what Rans Bicycles has dubbed its “high racer”. Built for speed, the Enduro’s frame is made in the USA with 4130 CroMo and uses Sram X7 components. Since Rans also designs and engineers aircraft frames, you know that the minds that also designed this bike focus on making something light, fast, and fluid. The pedaling is smooth as glass, the acceleration is out of this world, and no longer will training/or riding be unexciting.
If you thought that all bikes that are race worthy have to be uncomfortable, Rans wants to prove you otherwise. No longer will friends make fun of you after riding a century because of your tell-tale “Saddle Sore” walk. With Rans’ recumbent seat design all of the weight is supported by your back and sitbones. This bike is so comfortable. I train for triathlons and I spend quite a bit of time in the saddle myself, and nothing compares to this bike. I could ride for hours on this thing.
The only thing that does take a little getting used to is getting the bike started. Since you basically pedal in a reclined position (think of sitting in a recliner chair with the foot rest up, and you have the same position that you ride the Enduro in) you have to push off and pedal initially while sitting straight up. Once you’ve picked up enough speed, just sit back and relax. Other bikers will wonder where your flatscreen TV and beverage holder are, since that’s the only possible way to be MORE comfortable.
