>>>>> We took the
trike up to Jackson on a scout trip this week. The trike was
so much fun. All the scouts wanted to ride it. I could
tell on the 15 miler we rode that it was MUCH more efficient than
the host of mountain bikes ("wrist hurters") that the rest of the
group had. -- Submitted by Jeffrey Long from

>>>>> Took it
on a 30 mile spin this AM. The bike is everything as advertised. I
had no pain, just had fun. I could not have ridden my upright that
distance because of the joint and nerve pain in my left hand. Got
lots of looks, all admiring. Please use my name if anyone calls you
wanting a reference of a happy customer. --

>>>>> I ride
about 26 miles (round trip) every day - pretty much 7 days a week.
Of course, I have 5 bikes: (1) WizWheelz PowerCruiser, (2) Catrike
Road (with 43cc gas motor), (3) Catrike Speed (stock, except for
fenders and an Old Man Mountain Sherpa rack), (4) Easy Racers Tour
Easy (long wheel base recumbent, completely stock), and (5) a
diamond frame mountain bike (with a 43cc gas motor on it).
... Of the trikes, when I ride to
work (about 13 miles one way), I average about 21 mph on the Catrike
Road (due to the motor), 16 mph on the PowerCruiser, and about 12
mph on the Catrike Speed. I've had the Catrike Road up to 47 mph,
the PowerCruiser up to 28 mph, and the Speed up to about 31
mph. ... I never ride the Tour Easy to work, and have
only ridden the mountain bike to work maybe two or three times. I
much prefer the trikes. -- Submitted

>>>>> I could
not believe how much fun I had the first time I rode the trike. You
were right about triker's grin. I've definitely got one now. The
more I ride, the more fun I have. I'll never go back to two wheels
again. -- Submitted by Tammy

Cornering on my Catrike Expedition, and doing it fast, is so much
fun it should be illegal. It makes me want to find long downhill
stretches of winding road just so I can zip through
corners. -- Submitted by Russ Card from

9/15/07 Bent Bike Boogie #6
- Heber Valley Fall Colors Ride
Recumbent riders invaded Heber Valley on
September 15th. The weather was gorgeous - clear and cool. We
started at the park in Heber City. We rode a few blocks through
the back residential streets of Heber City until we hopped on a
bike trail that took us all the way to Midway. There we took back
rural roads to Soldier Hollow. We returned using a different route
that took us along side the upper Provo River for part of the way.
The view from Soldier Hollow looking
back across Heber Valley that was brilliant with Autumn Colors was
breathtaking. And the ride down from Soldier Hollow back into the
valley did much to satisfy the speed demons of our group. Everyone
enjoyed this ride, and said they'd do it again next
year.
7/14/07 Bent Bike Boogie #5 - Riding the
Provo River Parkway Trail
Shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14,
recumbent riders took to the paved trails on the Provo River
Parkway. We rode up the gradual climb from the mouth of Provo
Canyon past Bridall Veil Falls to Vivian Park. While fairly
busy on a Saturday morning, the trail was beautiful as we rode
through the trees, all the while being seranaded by the sound of
rushing water from the river.
Zipping back down the canyon was great fun. One triker was
taking the lead. A draft line of road bikers pulled in behind him.
"You don't help much with drafting," the lead road biker said.
"Sorry about that," our triker responded. The lead biker went on,
"but they get out of the way for you, so we're going to follow."
And that they did, all the way down to the mouth of the
canyon.
On
the way down we passed another group of four trikers on their way
up the canyon. Others enjoying the Provo Canyon Parkway Trail that
day definitely got a chance to see recumbent bikes and
trikes.
Some
of our group had other commitments and ended their ride at that
point. Others continued on, riding through Provo to the Utah Lake
Boat Harbor (the southern end of the trail) and back.

Look carefully. A VERY friendly bird hopped up
cute Recumbent Cycles of Utah Scion xB
hiding and
perched on Tammy's wheel. Then it hopped to
behind the telephone
pole?
her right then her left leg before it figured out we
weren't sharing food and it
flew away.

7/11/07 New Trike
Stand
Working on a trike can be a bit of a pain - literally
- unless you can get it off the ground. A triker name Clayton
Johnson has invented trike work stands that work well for Catrikes
and WizWheelz. There are two styles - a free-standing model and
one that works in a bike repair stand clamp. Check them out at his
website: www.flyingcatz.com
Here are some photos:

Trikes Only Tour
Clayton Johnson and
friends finished their Trikes Only Tour in northern Idaho the week
of the 4th. Here is a photo or two. For all the details, see
Clayton's website at www.flyingcatz.com. About 118
miles were covered over 3 days.
